Isle of Man - Conservation Priorities

Conservation Infrastructure

Statutory conservation is undertaken by The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry of the Isle of Man Government. As a Crown Dependency we are under the Home Office of the UK Government but largely autonomous. This office has three ecologists. The Manx Museum and National Trust is also responsible for wildlife and the Biological Records Centre. This is a government Agency not an NGO.

Voluntary conservation is undertaken by a number of voluntary organisations; The Manx Wildlife Trust, the Manx Bat Group, the Manx Bird Atlas, the Manx Chough Project and the Basking Shark Society to name a few.
