Threats / Problems / Issues

The threats to Jersey’s biodiversity and ecosystems mirror the threats experienced across many areas of the World. Several species that have been introduced to Jersey have become invasive. They cause problems for the native fauna and flora, e.g. through vegetative spread. One example is the Hottentot fig Carpobrotus edulis which grows along areas of coastline and is not easily managed.
