Introduction
This group of four small, varied South Pacific islands includes Pitcairn itself (4.5 sq. km, the haven for the mutineers from HMS Bounty over 200 years ago), Henderson Island - a 37 sq. km raised coral atoll - and tiny, low-lying coral atolls of Oeno and Ducie. The nearest land masses are over 4,500 km away, New Zealand to WSW and South America to the east.
