Features of Natural Interest

The islands of Anguilla are fringed by coral reefs and seagrass beds, which are important breeding habitat for a wide range of fish species. Some areas of reef, particularly in the south, have suffered extensive damage from hurricanes, white band disease, algal overgrowth, and bleaching, and are now of relatively low diversity. There has been a continuous decline in reef health over large areas since the 1990s.
