Poaching and illegal hunting in the SBAs includes the mist-netting of songbirds; nocturnal hare-hunting; hunting out-of-season and the shooting of protected bird species. Not only are these activities damaging in their own right, but the off-road driving to get to sites and the trampling by hunters can damage important habitats.
