Endangered Loggerhead Turtles (Caretta caretta) and Green Turtles (Chelonia mydas) both breed in Cyprus and nest on beaches in the ESBA and WSBA. Projects overseen by the SBA Environment and Conservation team and run by volunteers monitor turtle nesting and hatch success on beaches in the SBAs. Turtle mortality is recorded from beached carcasses.
