The tropical dry forest and coastal coppice provide an extremely important habitat for reptiles. TCI supports at least 5 endemic reptile species, namely the Caicos barking gecko Aristelliger hechti, Caicos Islands reef gecko Sphaerodactylus caicosensis, pygmy gecko Sphaerodactylus underwoodi (endemic to the Turks Bank), Caicos Islands trope boa Tropidophis greenwayi (with endemic sub-species on Ambergris Cays and the main Caicos Islands), curly-tailed or lion-headed lizard Leiocephalus psammodromus (with 6 endemic sub-species in TCI), pygmy gecko Sphaerodactylus mariguanae (endemic to Grand Turk and 2 islands in the Bahamas).

The endemic pygmy (trope) boa is the size of a pencil.
