The nursery enables propogation of native plants, as well as fruit trees and other useful plants. The value of the nursery was dramatically illustrated by the case of Abutilon pitcairnense, re-discovered and then propagated by Carol and Jay Warren in 2003. The single re-discovered plant was destroyed in 2004 by a landslide at Tedside. The nursery is currently afftected by the reduced water flow from Brown's Water, and other resources, both human and financial, are needed to ensure the long-term viability of the nursery. |
