Dhekelia and Episkopi TurtleWatch groups carry out early morning beach patrols, beach cleaning, night hatching vigils, and public awareness activities and deal with dead or injured turtles.  Episkopi TurtleWatch has been recording illegal fishing activities since 2008, after an increasing number of dead stranded sea turtles were found in Episkopi Bay.  The volunteer group has been undertaking aerial surveys since 2009 to verify if and at what depths sea turtles congregate or migrate through Episkopi Bay.
