Cultural Tourism.  Cyprus has a rich and varied archaeological history.  Its island status coupled with its strategic location for trade, led to the development of many unique cultural identities across the ages.  The island has a large number of impressive sites which are open to visitors. The ancient Roman and Byzantine ruins at Kourion include remains of a third century AD Roman market and public baths, intricate mosaics and an intact Roman theatre.
