Its location on a major migration route in the Mediterranean results in nearly 380 bird species regularly occurring in Cyprus. Spring and autumn migration periods see the most impressive bird numbers, although summer temperatures often make bird watching more challenging.  Akrotiri peninsula is a major bird watching hub, providing a variety of habitats: coastal cliffs, salt lake and flats, reed beds, woodland, gravel pits and maquis, with good views also at Episkopi cliffs.  Bird Life Cyprus has produced an informative guide for bird watching on the island: Bird Watching in Cyprus

Eleonora's Falcons (Falco eleonorae) breed on the sea cliffs at Episkopi in the WSBA. Their numbers are monitored by BirdLife Cyprus and the SBA Environment Department.
