Breeding birds at Akrotiri Wetlands include: Black-winged Stilts (Himantopus himantopus), Kentish Plovers (Charadrius alexandrinus), Spur-winged Plovers (Vanellus spinosus), and Ferruginous Ducks (Aythya nyroca).


Kentish Plover (Charadrius alexandrinus) on its nest.  The birds nest in ground scrapes and lay 2-4 eggs.
