Introduction

The Cayman Islands (19.3034°N, 81.3863°W) lie in the western Caribbean Sea, between Cuba, Honduras and Jamaica. The largest of the three islands is Grand Cayman (76 sq mi or 196 km2). About 75 mi (121 km) to the northeast are the Sister Islands, comprising Little Cayman (11 sq mi or 28 km2) and Cayman Brac (15 sq mi or 38 km2). The islands are coral-capped emergent limestone summits of the Cayman Ridge, which runs below the ocean between Cuba and Honduras.
