Botanicallly the British Virgin Islands are part of the Puerto Rican Bank, and there are a number of endemic (found no-where else in the world) plants.  Royal Botanic Gardens (RBG) Kew, London, have been studying the plants of BVI, with local partners, for many years, and this research work continues today.

Poke-me-boy Acacia anegadensis is one of three Anegada endemic plants.
