One project, funded by the Darwin Initiative, which commenced in 2012 and was completed in 2015, aimed to create and implement a National Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) for Ascension Island. The project gathered and analysed biological data for a number of priority species. This data then fed into multiple Species Action Plans (SAPs) that identify current threats to endemic and threatened species and, define targets for their conservation. The BAP includes actions to increase the protection of these species through protecting key habitats and making legislative changes. Habitat Action Plans (HAPs) have also been designed. More information on the BAP can be found here.
