Introduction

Conservation actions are having positive outcomes on many threatened species. The Ascension Seabird Restoration Project has resulted in the return of some species of breeding seabird to the mainland. Six of 11 species had recolonised by 2011 and, in 2012 a seventh species returned, with two pairs of endemic frigatebirds spotted nesting on the mainland for the first time in around 180 years! 2014 even saw 44 frigatebird nesting attempts on the mainland!
