The grass Sporobolus caespitosus is found on fairly bare and exposed banks on Green Mountain, facing in the direction of the south-easterly trade winds.  Seeds are predominantly dispersed down-wind. The fairly abundant quantity of seedlings indicates that the rate of establishment is good. However, S. caespitosus is susceptible to being grazed by introduced mammals, sheep in particular.
