The waters around Alderney offer significant potential for renewable energy production using windfarms or tidal turbines. The impacts of such offshore development need to be understood fully before extensive developments go ahead. In particular Alderney Wildlife Trust is lobbying for greater consideration in the planning process for transboundary issues and the cumulative effect of developments on seabird populations in the English Channel, as this is currently lacking.
